Cryogenic / high-temperature system for TNO
CryoZone's specialists rose to the challenge in this project for TNO, a well-known Dutch research institute. In partnership with D&M, CryoZone designed and built a cryogenic / high-temperature system that delivers a flow of nitrogen gas at a controlled temperature. The temperature set point can be varied in the range between 80 and 430K. Also the ramping speed during cooling down or heating up can be varied between 1 and 5 K/min.
The nitrogen gas in the system is blown around by a CryoFan with an 85 mm impeller blade. Cooling is achieved by a heat exchanger in an LN2 bath. A 1 kW heater in parallel provides the energy to warm up. All these different components are interconnected through regulating valves so the application temperature can be kept at 0.2K of the set point. The total system is built inside a cryostat, shielding the components from ambient temperatures in both cryogenic and hot conditions.
